About

Daniel O’Connell, MD, is a pediatric gastroenterologist at UW Health and sees patients at multiple locations including American Family Children’s Hospital. He also serves as an assistant professor of pediatrics at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. O'Connell works with infants, children and adolescents with digestive conditions. He treats reflux, constipation and inflammatory conditions like celiac disease, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Using a collaborative approach, Dr. O’Connell partners with patients and their families to provide care that centers around the things that are most important to them. He focuses not only on a patient’s physical health but also on their mental health and social well-being.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. O’Connell is actively involved in research and quality improvement endeavors focusing on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). His research includes looking at new medicines, performing medication trials and searching for ways to implement treatments to make them more accessible to diverse populations.

In his free time, he loves tending his garden, cooking and enjoying his culinary creations with his family.
