Visits from family and friends help children throughout their experience at the American Family Children's Hospital, and visits play important roles in your child's recovery. Visitation shall not be denied on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, age or handicap.
The following policy outlines guidelines for visiting the hospital. To ensure patient safety, security and protection, it is vitally important that you follow these guidelines. Your understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated.
General Visiting Hours
Parents or legal guardians may be with their child at any time. For all other visitors, visiting hours are 7am-9pm.
For increased safety, parents, legal guardians, family members and visitors must stop at security in the main lobby for a prescreening process before going to a child's room.
The hospital entrance closes at 9pm each night. After 9pm, we require that a security officer confirm all visitors (including parents) with the nursing unit on the designated floor. The security officer will request the patient's name and room number and call the nursing unit while you wait to be assisted.
We'll provide your child's room and phone numbers to people who visit or call the hospital's Guest Depot. Please tell us if you do not want this information released. Also, if you or your child do not want visitors, a nurse will place a sign on your child's door.
There is a waiting room in the Pierce Family Theatre area in the first floor lobby that you are welcome to use with your guests.
