The pediatric emergency medicine physicians at
American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin treat children from birth to 18 years with emergent medical needs.
Our staff is specifically trained to address the unique physical, emotional and development needs of children. Our pediatric emergency medicine physicians complete pediatric emergency medicine fellowships and are board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine.
UW Hospital and Clinics' emergency department nurses who focus on pediatric care also have specialized training to address the unique needs of children.
The pediatric emergency medicine team also
includes two Child Life specialists who work exclusively in the emergency room and help patients cope with hospitalization, diagnosis and treatment by using play, conversation and other elements of distraction to promote a positive hospital experience and maintain a sense of normalcy.
We offer child-friendly care that places a premium on communication with the patient and their families.
