UW Health's pediatric rehabilitation specialists in Madison, Wisconsin, provide a multidisciplinary approach to your child's rehabilitation.

Referrals are made for ADL Training when children do not perform self care skills independently. The reasons for this might be orthopedic, neurologic, or other conditions that challenge range and quality of movement and praxis.

Through ADLs:

  • Age appropriateness of self care skills is addressed.
  • Consultation is done with the individual, family, and appropriate community members, to produce solutions to problems that interfere with the child’s daily life.
  • Solutions may facilitate dressing, feeding, hygiene, communication (handwriting/keyboarding), mobility and organizing daily routines within the home and community.
  • Assistive equipment and adaptive devices may be utilized to maximize independence.
