UW Health's pediatric rehabilitation specialists in Madison, Wisconsin, provide a multidisciplinary approach to your child's rehabilitation.
Referrals are made for Sensory Integration when children exhibit signs of sensory processing dysfunction, such as being under or over responsive to sensory stimulus.
Systems affected may be:
- Tactile
- Vestibular
- Visual
- Auditory
- Olfactory
- Gustatory
- Muscle tone
- Coordination
- Behavior
Functional issues may arise with:
- Mealtime
- Dressing
- Bathing
- Playground
- Organization
- New activities
Children seen for Sensory Integration will have an evaluation and treatment provided with sensory integration trained staff. Evaluations include the Dunn Sensory Profile. Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests evaluations are available in some circumstances. Also addressed include sensory based feeding issues, sensory defensiveness, and modulation disorders (CNS’s regulation of its own activity).
