Amazing Kids, Amazing Stories: Erika's Story

During the 2010 racing season, a serious injury left snocross racer Erika Rau with a severely damaged aorta and a fractured neck.
She was rushed to UW Hospital and Clinics where doctors performed minimally invasive emergency heart surgery. Within hours after surgery to repair her heart, she was already planning to get back to racing. During her recovery, she trained for and ran a marathon and today is back on the trails.
