About

Allison Couture, DO, is a family medicine doctor at UW Health. She offers comprehensive care for patients of all ages and genders, from newborn care through geriatric support.

Dr. Couture manages the well-being of patients at every stage of life. She offers the full spectrum of health care, including preventive medicine and well visits, reproductive health care, women’s health and obstetric care, hospital care and nursing home care. She diagnoses and treats acute illnesses and injuries, chronic diseases, metabolic concerns, musculoskeletal problems, mental health conditions and addiction. She also provides gender-affirming and transgendered care.

Dr. Couture works to create a welcoming, inclusive environment. She listens to her patients’ concerns, goals and values and encourages shared decision-making. Using a holistic approach, Dr. Couture helps patients lead healthy, meaningful lives.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Couture is an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She also studies gender differences in provider-patient interactions and researches the impact of cooking classes and culinary magazines on children’s nutritional behaviors.

In her free time, Dr. Couture enjoys cooking, reading, entertaining her cats and being active in nature.
