Dr. Iskandar’s areas of clinical expertise include Chiari malformation and syringomyelia, brachial plexus reconstruction, and endoscopic surgery for tumors and congenital brain anomalies. He gained national recognition for novel imaging techniques aimed at minimizing the radiation exposure of children with hydrocephalus, as well as developing new technology to analyze the craniocervical CSF flow in children with Chiari malformation and Syringomyelia. Dr. Iskandar has committed a portion of his time to run a basic laboratory research, in which he studies folic acid supplementation and ways to repair the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) after injury.

Research

Dr. Iskandars's research contributions include optimizing the diagnosis and management of children with Chiari malformations and spinal dysraphism, pioneering imaging techniques aimed at minimizing the radiation exposure of children with hydrocephalus, and understanding the link between folate biochemistry, epigenetics, and central nervous system injury and repair.
