About

James (Andy) Stadler III, MD, MAS, is a UW Health Kids pediatric neurosurgeon and an assistant professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Stadler cares for children and young adults with a wide range of neurosurgical problems related to their head or spine. He has a special clinical interest in complex pediatric and congenital (present at birth) spine surgery.

Dr. Stadler provides surgical treatment for young people with congenital conditions that affect how their spine develops. These conditions may include spina bifida, achondroplasia (genetic condition that slows the growth of the spine), various forms of dwarfism and spine development malformations.

Dr. Stadler is skilled in the newest treatment techniques and surgical procedures. He always offers the least invasive options to provide safe and successful surgeries with faster recovery. His goal for all patients is to improve their daily function and maximize their quality of life.

In addition to his clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Stadler researches patterns for how the spine develops, how well people do after they undergo certain surgeries and their long-term outcomes.

Outside of work, Dr. Stadler enjoys running, spending time with his family and being outdoors.
