About

Jonathan Mietchen, PhD, is a UW Health Kids pediatric neuropsychologist and an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Jonathan specializes in cognitive and neuropsychological evaluations for children and adolescents with medical disorders, developmental delays and academic difficulties. These assessments look for strengths and challenges a child may have in memory, attention, executive function skills and learning.

He has a special interest in working with children who have experienced pediatric cancers, pregnancy and birth complications, early birth injury and disorders involving the nervous system and skin.

Because parents are experts on their own children, Jonathan is sure to factor in their observations and insights when considering a diagnosis. He educates them about strategies that can be implemented at home and at school to help their child succeed. Ultimately, Jonathan’s goal is to help children get the support they need to live happy, fulfilling lives.

Active in clinical research, Jonathan focuses on understanding how childhood medical and neurological conditions affect cognitive and functioning abilities.

Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his family, woodworking and playing drums.

I work to give parents the tools they need to advocate for their children with neurodevelopmental disorders.
