About

Julie Gocey, MD, is a UW Health Kids behavioral pediatrician in the Department of Pediatrics at UW Health and a clinical associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Gocey evaluates and treats children ages 5–17, with various combinations of attention, anxiety, mood, sensory, behavioral, learning and developmental problems.

She provides comprehensive care to children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), particularly those who also have coexisting, complex medical or developmental conditions and school challenges.

Dr. Gocey works to identify each child’s unique strengths and challenges, and partners with families and other providers to develop individualized treatment plans. The child’s plan might include medication, therapies, advocacy for school services, additional evaluation by specialists and help through community resources.

To improve care for people with literacy challenges, Dr. Gocey is also working with a team of clinicians to create a dyslexia toolkit to enhance primary care screening and support for both children and adults.

My goal is to understand each child’s strengths and challenges in the context of their daily lives and create an individualized care plan. Often, there are a variety of ways to support children, not just one right treatment.
