About

Lisa McLennan, NP, is a UW Health nurse practitioner who specializes in neurosurgery. She provides medical care for both children and adults receiving brain or spine surgery. Lisa has a special clinical interest in spina bifida (a congenital condition where the spinal cord doesn’t develop properly at birth).

As part of a multispecialty team, Lisa provides pre- and post-operative care for her young patients. She educates patients and families about their conditions and recommends treatments. She also addresses additional medical needs, such as pain control, that enhance patient comfort and outcomes.

With over a decade of experience in pediatric neurosurgery and prior experience as a pediatric Intensive Care Unit nurse, Lisa is highly skilled in caring for critically ill children. In addition to meeting their medical needs, she’s committed to providing emotional support for patients and their families throughout their journey. As a patient advocate, Lisa works to understand families’ experiences, goals and values, then communicate that information to the entire care team. Her goal is to make all patients and families feel heard and respected while providing the best care possible.

Outside of work, Lisa enjoys cooking and spending time outdoors gardening, biking and walking.

I want to meet patients and families where they are, understand their goals and help them meet those goals.
