American Family Children's Hospital Nurse Competes in Miss Wisconsin USA
Madison, Wisconsin - For the second year in a row, an operating room nurse at American Family Children’s Hospital was one of 38 contestants in the Miss Wisconsin USA competition in Fond du Lac.
“I finished in the top 15 last year,” said 25-year-old Jennifer White. “I really would love to win the title, but would be honored to be named as a semifinalist in the top 15 or a finalist in the top five.”
White did just that, advancing to the semifinal round of 15. Milwaukee's Chrissy Zamora won this year's crown.
White competed in swimwear, evening gown and interview competitions, and said her motivation to do well at the pageant is the kids she sees every day at American Family Children’s Hospital.
“I was inspired by children at the hospital to work extra hard and reach for my dreams. They have taught me that not every day is guaranteed,” said White.
White said she hoped her participation would promote the hospital’s Sick Kids Can’t Wait campaign, a four-year, $32 million building project to meet the growing needs of patients and families.
