UW Health's pediatric rehabilitation specialists in Madison, Wisconsin, provide a multidisciplinary approach to your child's rehabilitation.
The Communication Aids and Systems Program offer highly specialized evaluation and treatment services for patients with a significant spoken and/or written communication impairment. Our staff addresses conditions such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), multiple sclerosis (MS), acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury and more. Our highly-trained speech/language and occupational therapists specialize in the selection and implementation of augmentative communication.
Services
- Evaluation services to assist individuals in selecting appropriate technology, which can include augmentative communication systems, adaptations for writing and/or computer use, adaptive software and environmental controls
- Therapy services for patients, family and other relevant individuals
Documentation for individuals who pursue funding assistance for recommended communication systems - Follow-up services to customize the prescribed communication system to individual needs
- Expedited service delivery for individuals who have progressive disabilities
Services for inpatients at UW Hospital and Clinics upon referral from the Department of Speech Language Pathology
