American Family Children's HospitalFrom newborns to young adults, patients at the American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, receive a level of care that is truly unique in the region.
The state-of-the-art American Family Children's Hospital replaced the existing UW Children's Hospital in August 2007.
As a non-profit academic medical center, American Family Children's Hospital is committed to education, research and community service as a means of discovering new and better methods to meet the unique health care needs of children.

Sick Kids Can't Wait

As word of our outstanding patient care and family amenities has spread, our beds have been filled to the point where an expansion is needed to ensure that our demand is met. A fundraising campaign – called Sick Kids Can’t Wait – was launched in February 2012 and will allow to us to add more acute care beds and ensure that invasive procedures now performed in the adult hospital will be performed at American Family Children’s Hospital.

A Soothing, Patient-Friendly Environment

patient room - family sleeper sofa and workstationThe American Family Children's Hospital mission is to provide comprehensive health care of children and families in a healing environment that emphasizes their quality of life.
With inpatient rooms approximately double in size of the old UW Children's Hospital, the 60-bed American Family Children's Hospital provides patients and families from throughout Wisconsin a place to heal in a soothing, child- and family-friendly environment.
A second phase of fundraising enabled the hospital to open a new Pediatric Surgical Pavilion in September 2008. The 37,000 square foot facility includes six operating rooms and two procedure rooms. With a Lake Michigan motif, the pavilion is the latest in operating room design and technology. Fundraising will continue with an additional 24-bed inpatient unit and a pediatric radiology unit planned for the future.
