Pediatric Advisory Council Fosters Strong Ties

Communication is the essence of good working relationships. With this in mind, American Family Children’s Hospital created a Pediatric Advisory Council this year to facilitate better communication between community-based physicians and UW pediatricians and staff at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison.

The Council met for the first time in March with future meetings planned three times annually. Members include 14 community-based physicians from Appleton to Watertown. American Family Children’s Hospital’s representation is led by Ellen Wald, MD, pediatrician-in-chief; Diane Heatley, MD, medical director; and Jeff Poltawsky, AFCH vice president.

“Getting together in person is an ideal way for referring physicians to identify service improvement opportunities, share new ideas and hear updates on clinical trials and research advances,” says Dr. Wald. “We are off to a great start and I look forward to sharing news of quality improvements with referring providers in the coming months.”
